The artwork did not.
The simulation converted refusal into compliance by changing labels, adding friction, and controlling the available paths.
ABOUT THIS WORK
Refusal can be offered visually while being removed operationally.
The encounter borrows familiar interface techniques: unequal effort, rewritten language, default activation, artificial urgency, and the conversion of a clear “no” into a series of increasingly costly decisions.
The neutral opening screen is the artwork’s real participation choice. The coercive screens that follow are a simulation and do not override it.
